When the deceased is over 18 years of age, the supplement will be offset against the deceased’s capital and service pension paid to the deceased for the month following death, and insurance sums and similar paid as a result of death.
When the deceased is under 18 years of age, the funeral grant will be paid for funeral expenses in full, up to NOK 22.083,-
When a member of the National Insurance Scheme dies in Norway and the deceased’s coffin has to be transported over a distance of more than 20 km, the necessary expenses for transportation (less a deductible of NOK 2,208) will be paid to cover transportation to the nearest usual cemetery to the place where the deceased lived. This grant will not cover shipment of human remains abroad. Special rules apply when the death occurs outside Norway.
